August 2020 UpdatePublished Sunday 2nd of August 2020
Four weeks after reopening on 4th July we are loving welcoming returning guests, some who haven’t stayed for many years, and many new to Harford Bridge Park. Our recent ‘Silver’ Visit Devon & ‘Bronze’ South West Tourism Awards for camping, caravanning, and touring has probably helped raise our profile.
On 1st August Simon Nicholson very kindly presented us with a signed framed limited-edition photographic print of his stunning image ‘Comet Neowise over Brentor’. It was gifted to mark five consecutive years of family holidays at Harford. We are offering Print 1/20 in a prize draw during August with proceeds to Dartmoor Search and Rescue Group. The print is on display in our shop. Tickets on sale now; we are hoping to raise at least £200 for this vital local rescue service that does so much to help visitors and members of our community when need arises. The great British staycation has certainly got under way and with some good weather and the need to have a break, it is a thrill to have a holiday park that is open again. While closed it was quite strange having an operationally ready park, but no guests. A kind of nightmare. So, on ‘unlocking’, our team were delighted to experience Harford as it should be – vibrant and busy making Memorable Devon Holidays again.
Other local businesses and shops have since re-opened. Locally the Peter Tavy Inn is again offering food and drink, but the Trout and Tipple is not yet open. Other local pubs and inns have also re-opened and are listed on our free mobile app. Probably best to book if you want to eat out. John Follett’s Riverside Diner is open on park on Tuesday, Friday and Saturday evenings menu and info is on our App.
Tavistock has re-opened with the indoor Pannier Market on Thursday, Friday and Saturday and the surround again open. We have posted a video about this which can be accessed through our App along with other new content to help you plan and enjoy the best of what West Devon, The Tamar Valley and Dartmoor have to offer.
Sadly, not all events will be happening in 2020 with Tavistock’s Goose Fair and Dickensian being cancelled and many other pop up events not scheduled to take place. We will update with latest news of what is happening on the App.
On park our new ducklings, which hatched during lockdown, are around 12 weeks old and will be let out for the first-time very soon to join our re-inforced flock which includes Kayugas, Pekins, Appleyards and Runner ducks. Our wildflower meadow and dog exercise field has been re-invented this year with intersecting mown pathways and a place for contemplation under the London Plane trees. We have also tidied the meadow after planting over 450 trees last winter.
For those who think they might want to spend more holiday time at Harford we have a clutch of lovely used holiday homes for sale and there is video and information about these on our App.
We are so glad to be back doing what we enjoy doing! Stay safe.
Paul, Lydia, Nigel, and the Team at Harford Bridge Park
