2018 Rallies & Group EventsPublished Monday 8th of October 2018
During 2018 Harford Bridge Park hosted many rallies and groups.
During the 2018 season Harford Bridge Park hosted a number of rallies from a variety of organisations. These included the Camping & Caravanning Club, the West Country Group of Motor Caravanners Club, the BMW Owners Club and the Autotrail Owners Club. In addition to this we hosted one of the Search and Rescue Dog Association (SARDA) England training weekends with dogs and handlers travelling from around the country to train on Dartmoor.
The first rally of the season took place on the 16th March, the day after the park had opened. With all the wet weather over the winter and the considerable amount of snow at the beginning of March the grass areas were too wet to use so we were fortunate that the Park’s new hardstanding pitches had been completed and we were able to accommodate 30 motorhomes by doubling up on our generous sized hardstand pitches. Fortunately since the first rally the weather has been much kinder to our other rally guests!
Harford Bridge also supported a Plymouth based caravan company, Tamar Towing, who held a rally on the site at the end of June during which they raised over £1700 for St Luke’s Hospice. On the Saturday evening, with the sun shining, the rally goers and other guests on the Park were entertained for a couple of hours by the Cornish Wurzels who were giving their final ever performance before retiring from the limelight.
As well as rallies Harford Bridge Park is always happy to support other groups, particularly those from schools and youth organisations. With the Park ideally located for access to Dartmoor we have hosted groups from several schools and youth organisations whose students were taking part in either Silver or Gold Duke of Edinburgh expeditions. This included a group of Metropolitan Police Cadets from Hackney who stayed with us for nine days and several schools from the Devon & Cornwall area. A number of the student groups have made good use of the on-site drying room after long walks in the rain, as well as our information room to sit and chat when the weather hasn’t been kind.
If you are interested in holding a rally at Harford Bridge, or using the site as a base for Duke of Edinburgh or other expeditions for students, or other group based activities please contact reception at Harford Bridge.
