Events in Tavistock and West Devon during August 2019

The poster covers events in Tavistock Town for younger guests - many are free and organised by Tavsitock BID.  'Adventure' days organised Simply Outdoors run from 29th July to 16th August for 8 to 15 years and can be booked by the day or week: check out Facebook @SimplyOutdoors.  Other events include:

3 August: Gin in the Garden Festival, Yelverton

At the Moorland Garden Hotel 2.00 p.m. – 7.00 p.m. tickets £6.00

31 August: Tavistock Street Food Festival, Bedford Square

An array of street foods from around the world, with bars and live music

3 August: Guided Heritage Walk - Discover Tavistock

Meet outside Tavistock Visitor Information Centre, 2pm. The walk will last for approximately 90 minutes and about 1 mile long. Tickets £5 per person (accompanied under-16s free) and can be bought on the day or in advance at the Tavistock Visitor Information Centre.

8 August: Okehampton Show

Thursday 8th August, Stoney Park Showground, Okehampton. An ever popular one day show with set against a beautiful Dartmoor backdrop, this is a traditional agricultural show (112th), fun for all the family with all day entertainment.

10 & 11 August: Cheese Festival, Tavistock Town Hall

14 & 15 August: British Firework Championship – Plymouth Hoe from 9pm

The world-famous British Firework Championships on Plymouth's Waterfront. Spectacular pyrotechnics that will illuminate Plymouth Sound as six top firework companies battle it out over two nights, each putting on an awe-inspiring ten minute display in an attempt to be crowned the winner. Head to Plymouth Hoe for the best view and enjoy the show, from 9pm.

17 & 18 August: Steampunk Summer Festival at Morewellham Quay

24 August - 1 September:  'Drawn to the Valley' Open Studios
