What's on and Happenings at Harford
Events in February are sparse, but readers may be interested to know that on 21st February Adam Owen, Director of Moor Trees, which supported Harford Bridge’s community tree planting, is giving a talk to the Tavistock’s Devonshire Association Branch on Re-wilding Dartmoor (7.30 p.m. at Tavistock Parish Church, 5A Plymouth Rd). Pay at the door – non-members welcome.
29th February for those who love of Italian food and drink Miss Ivy Events are offering L’Esperienza Italy - a taste of Italy - with live music (6.00 p.m. – 9.00 p.m. Butcher’s Hall, Tavistock) booking advisable www.missivyevents.co.uk
If planning visits further ahead, then on 28th March is a first ever for Tavistock – an ‘Upcycled’ product market - in the Tavistock Butchers Hall and, 2020 being a leap year, the Peter Tavy Wildflower Festival has come round again and is 17th – 19th July.
Social media watchers will know that Harford Bridge achieved a second top tier award at the South West Tourism Excellence Awards with a ‘Bronze’ to add to a ‘Silver’ in the Touring, Camping and Caravanning Park of the Year award category. We were one of over 770 award entrants from across the region. Achieving a Silver 2019 Visit Devon Tourism Award was a delight; the Bronze South West Tourism Excellence Award was further recognition of the hard work put in by our team. To win in the regional awards was, for us, a further achievement at a high level. We are going to need an awards display shelf in Park Reception.
Out on park we have just completed siting of two new plus size StudioLodges which are shown on our website will be available to book in the lead up to Easter. Landscaping around them is ongoing and they will have natural stone patios and other features. Around 1,000 hedging plants are to be planted. We have completed the first phase with 500 Hornbeam between our hard standings, the remaining hedging whips are being planted now all supplied by the excellent Perrihale Nursery nr Honiton, Devon.
For 2020 we have camera controlled number plate recognition security barriers with tag less access and pitching. A new machine serving Owens sustainably sourced fresh ground Devon roasted coffee, hot chocolate and tea. Also coming soon is a Harford Bridge Mobile App which will provide essential information on what’s on and how to find it to maximise enjoyment of stays at Harford Bridge Park and a lot more useful information. Guests will also be able to give us feedback and be the first to hear about our special offers.
