October 2020 UpdatePublished Tuesday 6th of October 2020
In the third quarter of 2020, 'normal' has not yet returned to West Devon or England. Tavistock Goose Fair and Dickensian Evening have been cancelled, though the town and local economy has re-opened under the new norms and rules. At Harford Bridge we are open till 1st November for self-catering and camping & touring and we are getting work underway to make more Memorable Devon Holidays in 2021 ...
Winter Self-catering holidays
With many local lockdowns and the rise in coronavirus reproduction rate, it has focused our attention on whether it is sensible to offer self-catering holidays at Harford Bridge through the coming winter.
As the virus seeds itself in swathes of the country, and local measures necessary to mitigate it are put in place, we have concluded that this casts doubt over whether it is advisable and socially responsible to holiday with us this coming winter. With reduced opening hours in the hospitality sector, diminished Christmas & New Year celebrations, and no Pantomime season the appeal in going anywhere on holiday is likely to be much less than in normal times.
These matters of fact have led us to conclude that we should honour existing bookings - made when times were different - but to accept no new self-catering bookings until February 2021. So, from 1 November 2020 we will close our self-catering accommodation until 13 February 2021 for new bookings.
2021 Prices & Holiday Bookings
We have recently published our 2021 prices on our website and on-line booking system. On-line bookings can be made anytime. Phone bookings are taken Monday to Saturday 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. Telephone enquiries are welcome during office hours and messages left will be answered the next working day.
During the winter we will be closing all our on-park facilities so we can undertake maintenance and improvements as we have significant change and updating to undertake. These include a new Amenity Building for 2021, new ‘Prestige’ self-catering accommodation and lots of other enhancements and behind the scenes operational changes
We have made a start already with new estate fencing on Recreation Green and on the terrace near the self-catering holiday homes as part of the work to introduce our ‘Prestige' self-catering caravans. The ‘Prestige' caravans will have patios, decking, hair dryers, and a second TV with Wi-Fi included. More information about these high-end holiday caravans will be forthcoming over the winter.
Victory ‘Lakewood’ Lodge
In March 2021 we will offer a new premium Victory ‘Lakewood’ Lodge 2-bedroom holiday home. It will be sited on Resident’s Bank Pitch 6 with decking and views to Dartmoor. The lodge will complement other lodges in this area of the park and will provide a 12-month holiday use lodge at the pinnacle of what is available at Harford Bridge Park. If you are interested in a virtual viewing, there is a digital walk-through at Link
On-line Shop & Gift Cards
If you are thinking about Christmas gifts maybe you will be interested to know that our on-line shop is accessible through our mobile app. At present users can pre-order bakery goods during stays and buy Gift Cards which can be sent as an e-gift from our app and website. Just visit our app / website to do this.
The e-gift card works like the plastic variety available on the high street and in supermarkets but ours is entirely digital and the full value of your purchase is gifted to the recipient. No useless plastic left over and no trip to the shops to buy the card! Ideal for personal gifts for special occasions and to enjoy a Memorable Devon Holiday at Harford Bridge Park.
We will be increasing the range of merchandise available from our shop as we add to our products and we can supply on a click and collect basis from the Park Shop. Delivery by post will be available in 2021.
Gift card redemption is through us on booking by quoting the unique code or the recipient showing us the code on their mobile device. See our T&C for more information.
Spring 2021 will be the 36th anniversary of family ownership of Harford Bridge by the Williamson family – in marital terms the 'Bone China' anniversary. So, as we missed the 35th (coral) and VE Day 75 - because of lockdown we will commission a commemorative item to mark the anniversary, it won’t necessarily be made of bone but it will be available from our on-line shop.
In the meantime, we will be getting on with park improvements and updates and will have more news before Christmas.
We would like to thank all our guests for returning to Harford after lockdown to enjoy holidays in Devon in the new normal and for being so understanding of the need to keep everyone safe. Self-catering and camping & touring remains open until 1st November so we look forward to welcoming guests till we close at the end of the 2020 season.
With best wishes
The Harford Bridge Park Team
